B1G Pick of the Week #11

Danny SawickiDANNY DEE SAWICKI’S BIG TEN PICK OF THE WEEK
MICHIGAN STATE AT IOWA SATURDAY

I wanted to jump so bad on those four points that Iowa was getting last week, but I chickened out. I won’t make the same mistake this week.

I like Iowa plus 3 his week. This is a huge game for both squads. If either team wins all of its remaining 3 games, that team will play in the Big Ten Championship game in December. Michigan State and Iowa control their own destiny.

The main reasonI believe Iowa will cover is because of Michigan States’ inept play on the road.
They have lost 7 straight at Kinnick Stadium. The defense plays ok, but the offense stalls at opposing stadiums.

Cousins is completing 58% on his road passes and has thrown 4 INTS with only 2 touchdowns on the road. So he stuggles away from home.

The running game also bogs down when traveling. The Spartans average only 68 yds per game and have not scored a rushing TD away from home.

Michigan State has 3 tight ends that probably will not play on saturday. So if the running game stalls and they can’t go short, that will make some very uncomfortable long-yardage situations for the State offense.

Iowa is 6-0 at home. They are very talented in crucial skilled position players.Iowa has 3 premiere players in the skilled positions.

At quarterback, Vanderberg has almost 2100 yards passing this year.

The running back, Marcus Coker has 1100 yards on the year and can break it long.
The wide receiver Marvin McNutt has been going off, he has had 3 straight 100 yd receiving games and has 57 receptions and 959 yards for the year.

I believe this is going to be a close contested contest with a field gowl being the difference and very well being decided on the last drive.

season record 5-4-1
