Michigan AD Dave Brandon resigns, Hacket now interim

Embattled Athletic Director at the University of Michigan, Dave Brandon, has stepped down under the increased pressure from fans, supporters and alumni.

The news made official by Michigan president Mark Schlissel at a news conference held Friday afternoon in Ann Arbor.

Full details of the resignation will be made available at a later time by the Public Affairs Group.

In Brandon’s place, now interim athletic director Jim Hacket stated he is “humbled to help in this transition period.”

Schlissel stated there is no timetable set for a replacement and that he is only looking to hire a replacement “with excellence in mind.”

Schlissel also made clear that Hacket would hold authority to review the football program and make decisions regarding its coaching staff as needed.

Brandon made clear his decision to resign on Wednesday when he spoke with the Michigan president.

Now all eyes turn towards the head coach as it is all but certain, Hoke’s days also are coming to an end as coach of the Michigan Wolverines.
