According to published reports, Brady Hoke and Michigan have picked up their first official commit for their 2014 recruiting class by way of the state of Ohio.
Apparently linebacker Michael Ferns from Saint Clairsville, Ohio has forsaken offers from other national schools such as Ohio State, Notre dame, Oklahoma and Stanford among others to choose Blue.
It was only a matter of time before Hoke focused on 2014 as his 2013 top-10 class is only a few players away from being full.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Ferns continues the precedent for Michigan to recruit top kids out of the neighboring state to the south.
Ferns is considered to be 4-star caliber athlete at this time.
