Michigan Wednesday news update

The fallout from the Alabama game on Saturday has a lot of folks in and around Ann Arbor a little concerned about the overall health of the football program.

On Monday, the team announced that sophomore cornerback Blake Countess will be lost for the season as a result of an injury he sustained making a special teams play in the first half against the Crimson Tide. Countess tore his ACL on the play and will need surgery.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke also announced this week that suspended players sophomore defensive end Frank Clark and senior running back Fitzgerald Toussaint will play against Air Force this Saturday. Both players were suspended for the opener due to off-field legal issues.

Offensive coordinator Al Borges was confident in the team’s offensive game plan against Alabama and stated in his press conference yesterday that if having a chance to play the game over again he would change “very little, almost none” of the plan implemented on Saturday in Dallas.

After only one game of the 2012 season, the Wolverines’ next opponent, Air Force, comes to Ann Arbor this Saturday and brings the #1 rated rushing attack with them as the team put up 484 total rushing yards in their season opener against Idaho State.

This game will be a great test for Brady Hoke and his Wolverines and will show if Alabama was just a blip or if there should be cause to sound the alarm in Ann Arbor. - May the Hoke be with you! © January 11th, 2011
