On to the Sweet Sixteen, Michigan beats Texas 79-65

The Michigan Wolverines advanced on to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2014 NCAA March Madness tournament after their impressive 79-65 victory over the Texas Longhorns on Saturday.

The Wolverines led by as many as 18 points twice, once in each half. Michigan shot as a team 44% from the field and they converted on 14 of their 28 three-point attempts. That total is a new Michigan team tournament record.

Senior Jordan Morgan put up his second double-double of the tournament with his 15 points and 10 rebounds. Nik Stauskas led the Wolverines with 17 points and contributed 8 assists. Glenn Robinson III and Caris LeVert also scored in double-figures, 14 points each.

Next Friday night, Michigan will play the winner of surprise Mercer vs. Tennessee.

This is the Wolverines second straight Sweet Sixteen and the team’s 4th straight tournament appearance under coach John Beilein overall. - May the Hoke be with you! © January 11th, 2011
