Legend has it that in 1902, a victor valiant halfback by the name of Albert E. Herrnstein led the Wolverines to an undefeated, 11-0 national championship season by scoring 26 touchdowns.
Historical archives dictate that this total stands ‘till this day as the most rushing touchdowns ever scored by one individual at the University of ]V[ichigan in one season.
To me, the best part about the Fielding H. Yost coached team was not the fact that the Wolverines outscored their opponents that year 644 to 12, but that one of those wins came against a team called ohio state. That game was called short due to an apparent lack of competitiveness once the score hit 86 – 0.
Another victory was “earned” against the Michigan Agricultural College with a final score 119 – 0. Today that school goes by the name MSU.
